Lately my baby boy has had so much more activity in his little home. I am starting to feel definite periods of awake and asleep. Food definitely triggers his movements. I like to think that he's sitting there sleeping and then gets a little pure energy burst, then decides he wants to dance. "I just want to express my emotions through the medium of DANCE!"
Or he might be Billy Blanks, the TaeBo guy, except only 11 oz.
I look forward to my after dinner movements most of all, when he's the most active. Tonight he was really punching and kicking. A few weeks ago it started out just small flutters, just like I read about online. It was like someone was moving a finger really softly on my tummy, except on the inside. Now I can feel the movements, stronger twitches and thumps and even, if I concentrate hard enough, I can feel him rolling around and twisting. It's really the best feeling and so special.
Kelsey tries to feel him, but his little arms and legs aren't quite strong enough for that (and the layer of fat on my belly that was there before isn't helping!) Kelsey tries to feel him, though! At night, while we're laying in bed, Kelsey will put his hand on my belly and close his eyes and try to feel him move. The problem is, I tend to jump and say, "DID YOU FEEL THAT ONE?" which defeats the purpose. Kelsey loves to hear me talk about him moving. It's the best connection he has right now.
I also love to hear the love in Kelsey's voice when he talks about the baby. We just both love him so much. Maybe someday when he's older (MUCH older) and can appreciate it, I'll print off these blog posts and make them into a book. I hope he always knows how much we have loved him, even when all we had were tiny little flutters.

I'm glad that he is a dancing baby! He will be doing lots of dancing with his Aunt Sarah! Got to start working on that dance mix tape for him...
ReplyDeleteCan't wait until the next time I visit. Hopefully by then his kicks and punches will be strong enough for me to feel. 125 days to go!!!
